When I was growing up, books weren’t just stories.

They were doorways.

A book could take you to another world, introduce you to unforgettable friends, and make you believe that ordinary people could do extraordinary things.

Today, I think that’s more important than ever.

As parents and grandparents, we all want to see children excited about reading. We want to see them laughing, imagining, and discovering worlds beyond a screen. We want stories that spark curiosity, encourage creativity, and remind kids that friendship, courage, and kindness still matter.

That’s exactly what inspired A Boy and His D.O.G.

The series began with a simple but unforgettable idea from my grandson, Jordan.

After visiting the Boston Museum of Science and seeing Spot, the robot dog, his imagination took off. What if a kid had a robot dog? What if that robot dog became his best friend? What if that robot dog turned him into a superhero?

From that one idea, an entire universe was born. A universe where robots rain from the sky over Boston. Where kids leap through portals and travel across the galaxy. Where robot cats, rabbits, parrots, and dogs become loyal companions.

Where villains with ridiculous plans try to take over the world.

And where an ordinary boy discovers that heroes aren’t defined by powers—they’re defined by their choices.

At its heart, A Boy and His D.O.G. is about friendship.

It’s about believing in yourself.

It’s about using your imagination to see possibilities where others see limits.

Most of all, it’s about making reading fun.

When children pick up a book because they want to know what happens next, something magical happens. They aren’t reading because they have to.

They’re reading because they can’t wait to turn the page.

As an author, there is no greater reward than hearing from a parent, grandparent, teacher, or librarian who tells me a child couldn’t put the book down.

That’s why we’re so excited about the next chapter in the series: D.O.G. 2.0.

Blu and D.O.G. are facing their biggest challenge yet, and we’re inviting readers to join them on the adventure.

We’ve launched a Kickstarter campaign to help bring D.O.G. 2.0 to even more young readers and continue expanding the world of Blu, D.O.G., the TechPals, and the Luminal Vanguard.

If you’ve ever wanted to encourage a child to read more, dream bigger, and unleash their imagination, we’d love for you to take a look.

Become a BACKER! Your kids will love it!

Every great adventure begins with a single page.

And every hero starts with imagination.

Thank you for being part of ours.
